The Langford Conservancy is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to preserving heritage buildings and revitalizing them into community hubs. We protect local farmland and advocate for organic and co-operative farming. This year, we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Langford Schoolhouse.
Over the last year, we have rented the Langford Schoolhouse for community events and hosted:
- Film nights and drum making workshops
- An antique, silent auction
- A Grand River canoe trip and edible wild meal at the Onondaga Hall, and
- Fitness and computer classes, and a musical fundraiser
Volunteers installed curtains, and local artist Dave Hind donated a new sign. During Earth Week we launched a “Green Ribbon” campaign to protect the “permanent agriculture” ribbon of land around Brantford and Brant County.
We are hosting the SOS Fest to raise funds to make the Langford Schoolhouse wheelchair accessible for community events, and to renovate the foundation. The event will include live music (including Canadian folk singer James Gordon), old-fashioned games, a silent auction, local vendors, historical digital memorabilia and much more!!!
If you are interested in sponsoring this event or willing to make a monetary donation, please contact us.
